THE HISTORY OF ASD
"Over the years, the student community grew and the need for a purpose built facility led to the development of our current campus"
Our History
The American School of Douala was founded in 1978 by a group of parents seeking an English-medium, international education for their children. The school initially began with 50 students in a villa, not far from our current location in Bonapriso. Over the years, the student community grew and the need for a purpose built facility led to the development of our current campus, which houses 22 classrooms, a library, a computer lab, a multipurpose room, science lab, 320-seat auditorium, school clinic, indoor pool, playground, and football field.
Over the years, our proud alumni have gained admission into universities across the globe, including countries such as the USA, France, Canada, England, South Africa, and Lebanon. Some of the top universities our graduates have attended include Yale, Berkeley, McGill, NYU, Cornell, University of Toronto, American University of Paris, and University College London.
